× HVOF
High-velocity oxygen-fuel spraying Principle Powder particles are accelerated by a high-speed combustion jet and form a coating upon impact with a prepared surface.
How it works Powder is fed into the torch, heated and accelerated. Repeated passes build the required thickness, followed by finishing if needed.
Advantages Dense, wear-resistant cermet coatings with limited substrate heating. Performance depends on the powder and process settings.
Applications Wear and erosion protection of shafts, rods, pumps and valves; dimensional restoration of components.
Technology reference ↗ × ARC SPRAYING
Electric arc spraying Principle An electric arc melts the tips of two metal wires. A gas stream atomizes the melt and carries droplets to the component.
How it works The surface is cleaned and roughened. Wires feed continuously into the gun, and successive passes build the coating.
Advantages High deposition productivity, use of metal wire feedstock and suitability for large surfaces. Sealing may be required.
Applications Zinc and aluminum corrosion protection of structures, restoration of mating surfaces and equipment protection.
Technology reference ↗ × APS
Atmospheric plasma spraying Principle An electric arc generates a plasma jet that heats powder particles and carries them to the surface.
How it works Powder enters the plasma. Molten or softened particles spread on impact, building the coating layer by layer.
Advantages Deposits refractory ceramics, metals and composites. Powder composition and spray parameters control coating properties.
Applications Thermal barrier, electrically insulating, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant coatings for energy and industrial equipment.
Technology reference ↗ × ELECTROLYTIC-PLASMA HARDENING
Electrolytic plasma hardening Principle The steel surface heats rapidly within a vapor–gas plasma envelope and then cools to form a hardened structure.
How it works The component contacts an electrolyte under applied voltage. Heating and cooling times control the hardening depth.
Advantages Local surface hardening without adding a coating. Retention of a tough core depends on steel grade and treatment settings.
Applications Steel working surfaces, shafts, gear components and tools exposed to friction and wear.
Technology reference ↗ × MICROARC OXIDATION
Micro-arc oxidation Principle Microdischarges in an electrolyte convert aluminum, magnesium, titanium and alloy surfaces into ceramic oxide layers.
How it works The component is connected to an electrical circuit and treated in an electrolyte. Solution chemistry and pulse settings control layer structure.
Advantages Improved hardness, wear resistance and electrical insulation. Porous layers may need sealing for enhanced corrosion protection.
Applications Light-alloy components, housings and friction parts; functional and dielectric surfaces.
Technology reference ↗ × FLAME SPRAYING
Flame spraying Principle A flame heats powder or wire, while a gas stream carries particles to a prepared surface.
How it works Feedstock enters the torch and is deposited in repeated passes. Self-fluxing alloys may undergo subsequent fusing.
Advantages Versatile process with relatively simple equipment for dimensional restoration and protection. Properties depend on feedstock and treatment.
Applications Shaft and sleeve repair, restoration of worn surfaces, corrosion and wear protection.
Technology reference ↗ × COLD SPRAY
Cold gas dynamic spraying Principle Solid powder particles accelerate in a gas stream and bond through high-speed impact and intense plastic deformation.
How it works Heated compressed gas passes through a nozzle with the powder. Particles deposit without melting to build a metal layer.
Advantages Low thermal load and limited oxidation. Particularly suited to ductile metals; powder composition and size require selection.
Applications Metal component restoration, conductive and protective coatings, repair of aluminum and copper components.
Technology reference ↗ × PVD
Physical vapor deposition Principle Target material is evaporated or sputtered in vacuum. Atoms and ions condense on a surface to form a thin film.
How it works Clean components enter a vacuum chamber for deposition. Reactive gases can produce compounds such as nitrides.
Advantages Thin, hard coatings with controlled composition and small dimensional changes. Complex components require appropriate positioning and rotation.
Applications Cutting and forming tools, precision friction components, functional and decorative coatings.
Technology reference ↗ × CVD
Chemical vapor deposition Principle Gaseous precursors react or decompose near a surface to form a solid layer.
How it works Reactants enter a chamber with controlled temperature, pressure and flow. Volatile byproducts are removed from the process zone.
Advantages Control over coating composition and structure, including complex surfaces. Permissible temperature depends on the substrate and process variant.
Applications Carbide, nitride and other functional films; tool protection and materials research for electronics and energy.
